Is it Will’s Bothy? Or Leysburnfoot?

I only ask because the bothy we used for our annual boys bothy adventure this year seems to have two names of equal standing.

For instance, when I checked instagram for pictures of the bothy, I found nothing tagged Leysburnfoot but lots of pictures tagged as Will’s Bothy.

But I checked the MBA website and that uses Leysburnfoot (with Will’s Bothy in brackets, like I’ve done here…)

After consideration of whether I prefer a building to be named after a person or a natural landmark, I opted for the latter.

Leysburnfoot has been on my radar for a while. To be found near the village of Newcastleton in the Scottish borders, it sits in a dip near the old Riccarton junction on the old Waverley railway line.

Explorations of nature, railway history and whisky took place here.
